699 sq ft living space · 1 bedroom · 1 baths · one level plus storage loft · 1,189 sq ft under roof
The Vacationer log cabin kit is a 699 sq ft, one-bedroom cabin with a 352 sq ft storage loft and a 138 sq ft covered patio — 1,189 sq ft under roof. A three-sided bay window in the dining area and a stone fireplace in the living room give a small cabin the feel of a much bigger one.

Main Level Walkthrough
The living area sits at the front of the cabin around a masonry fireplace on the side wall. The dining table fills a three-sided bay of windows, the brightest corner in the plan. The kitchen sits behind it in a U-shape with a range, sink and refrigerator, open to both rooms.
At the back, the bedroom has a long closet and a linen cabinet. A combined bath and utility room holds a tub and shower, a stacked washer and dryer and the water heater on one plumbing wall. A ladder in the hall climbs to the storage loft.
Storage Loft
The 352 sq ft storage loft covers the back half of the cabin with about 5 feet of headroom along the sides. The front half stays open to the living room, so the fireplace wall rises the full height of the cabin.
Porches, Decks and Outdoor Living
A 138 sq ft covered patio runs across the front wall with the main entry in the center — enough room for a bench and two chairs out of the weather.
Where the Vacationer Fits Best
The Vacationer is built for weekend owners: a cabin you can open on Friday and close on Sunday. One bath, one plumbing wall and one heat source keep it simple to winterize.
Its bay window works best aimed at a view. We orient the plan to your land so the dining table faces it.
Ways to Customize the Vacationer
Every Frontier Log Homes plan is a starting point, not a limit. Common changes to the Vacationer log cabin kit:
- Turn the storage loft into a sleeping loft with a steeper roof or dormers.
- Extend the covered patio around the bay window side.
- Swap the fireplace for a wood stove.
- Add a mud room at the back door for snow country.

What’s Included in the Vacationer Log Cabin Kit
Every Vacationer log cabin kit starts as a hand-crafted log package from our yard in Montrose, Colorado: hand-peeled full round logs for the walls and roof structure, plus log bucks for doors and windows, log stairs and railings. The logs are scribed, notched and pre-fit in the yard, numbered, and shipped to your building site anywhere in the U.S. Construction times run 1 to 13 weeks depending on the size of the kit. See the full package on our log cabin kits page.
Want more than the log package? A dry-in package makes the shell weather-tight, and a turn-key build puts Frontier Log Homes in charge of the whole project. Building departments review log walls against ICC 400, the national standard for log structures, so plan for engineering on every site.
