Main Level Walkthrough

The main level opens from the covered deck into a living room with a stove hearth at the foot of the stair. The dining table sits by the front windows, and the kitchen runs along the back wall with an island in the middle and a pantry cabinet at the end.

Bedroom 2 sits in the back corner with a closet, next to a coat closet by the side door. Bath 2 has a shower, and a laundry room and mechanical room sit beside it, so the plumbing and utilities stay on one side of the cabin.

Upper-Level Master Suite

The master suite takes the upper level. The bedroom sits under the roof peak between two low-storage eaves, with a closet and a dresser wall. The master bath has a shower, a toilet and a vanity. The front half of the upper floor stays open to the living room below.

Porches, Decks and Outdoor Living

The 186 sq ft covered deck runs the length of the side wall by the dining room, and a stoop at the side door gives a second entry for gear.

Where the Yukon Fits Best

The Yukon suits couples who want a private master suite, and small families who want two bedrooms and two baths without a large footprint. At 1,008 sq ft on the main floor, the foundation stays the same size as a small cabin while the upper level adds the suite.

It also makes a strong rental: two bedrooms on separate floors with their own baths.

Ways to Customize the Yukon

Every Frontier Log Homes plan is a starting point, not a limit. Common changes to the Yukon log cabin kit:

  • Add a balcony off the master bedroom gable.
  • Wrap the covered deck around the front wall.
  • Swap the stove for a stone fireplace.
  • Grow the main-floor bath with a tub.

How the Yukon Compares

Buyers who like the Yukon log cabin kit usually compare it with the Lone Star and the Base Camp, the two closest plans by size and bedroom count.

Plan Living space Bedrooms Baths Levels Garage
Yukon 1,494 sq ft 2 2 Two levels None
Lone Star 1,394 sq ft 2 2 Two levels None

The Lone Star has 100 sq ft less living space than the Yukon, with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths on two levels. It keeps the same bedroom count.

The Base Camp has 22 sq ft less living space than the Yukon, with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths on two levels. It adds a bedroom.

What’s Included in the Yukon Log Cabin Kit

Every Yukon log cabin kit starts as a hand-crafted log package from our yard in Montrose, Colorado: hand-peeled full round logs for the walls and roof structure, plus log bucks for doors and windows, log stairs and railings. The logs are scribed, notched and pre-fit in the yard, numbered, and shipped to your building site anywhere in the U.S. Construction times run 1 to 13 weeks depending on the size of the kit. See the full package on our log cabin kits page.

Want more than the log package? A dry-in package makes the shell weather-tight, and a turn-key build puts Frontier Log Homes in charge of the whole project. Building departments review log walls against ICC 400, the national standard for log structures, so plan for engineering on every site.
